Automation Upgrades

COBRA and its affilated companies have been involved in the implementation and optimization of base metal plants throughout the world for over 15 years. Our experience designing, manufacturing and implementing upgrades permits us to improve existing systems as well as develop new ones.

Key initial steps to be performed when implementing an automation upgrade generally include machine tuning as well as the identifying bottlenecks and technological weaknesses. Subsequent steps may include implementing newer technologies to improve the machine performance and replacing obsolete components with the current generation. Moreover, proven newer designs can be implemented to improve machine throughput and reliability .

Areas of expertise include improving and optimizing the following :

  • Mechanical system .
  • Hydraulic system (general hydraulic).
  • Carousel drives .
  • Electrical system and/or controls
  • Separating and sampling station .
  • Robotic cathode reject and insertion stations .
  • Robotic product sorting and stacking
  • Robotic systems high pressure wash (EASH)

COBRA also performs operations studies of machines and personnel to provide appropriate industry benchmarking to implement new solutions.
